A very warm welcome to Glenwood School, a specialist secondary school for around 100 pupils who require a personalised curriculum to meet their moderate learning needs, physical, sensory and language challenges and who may be on the Autism Spectrum.
At Glenwood we are driven to provide a relevant and enjoyable curriculum that develops the whole child, enabling them to achieve outstanding outcomes and succeed, academically, physically, emotionally and socially.
Our curriculum is built on three foundations: Communication and Advocacy: Independence and Preparing For Adulthood and Physical, Social and Emotional Good Health.
Through our foundations and our values, we offer a rich curriculum where pupils have opportunity to develop their emotional resilience, are aware of and respect British Values, enjoy reading, experience the brilliance of human creativity, learn how to stay safe, learn how to take good care of themselves, inside and out, and make a positive contribution to their school and community.
Our over-arching aim is that pupils leave us well-rounded young adults, living as independently as possible and take the lead in living aspirational lives.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Dear Parents and Carers,

School will be closed this Friday, 23rd October 2026, due to severe health and safety risks caused by the forecast high winds.

As previously communicated, high winds pose a significant risk of falling branches from the tall trees on our school grounds. While we always try to keep the areas cordoned off, the safety of our pupils, who may not fully understand or avoid these restricted areas - must remain our absolute priority. We cannot guarantee a safe environment for your child/children under these conditions.

The Local Authority have confirmed they will be carrying out essential tree management work over the upcoming half-term break to resolves this issue. However, until the work is completed, the site remains unsafe during severe weather.

Work will be provided via Doodle. If you would like paper based work please let your tutor know.

Attendance will be recorded as an authorised emergency closure and will not affect your child's attendance.

We expect to reopen as normal after the half-term holiday on Monday 2nd November.

We understand that school closures cause inconvenience for families, and we have not taken this decision lightly. Thank you for your continued support.
